Discover your garden’s hidden beauty
My garden inspiration comes from England. I spent my early life in the wilds of Scotland, moved to London as a young adult, and then to a rural idyll in Hertfordshire as the mother of 3 young children. Motivated by my mother, who was always in the garden pottering when I was a child, I have always sought to create a calm retreat in my garden wherever I have lived. Moving to Brooklyn in my 40s proved the ultimate challenge to find that calm.
All about natives
As Nursery Fellow at Lowlands Nursery in the Gowanus, I learned how to grow native plants from seed in a plant nursery environment and worked with a team to educate and engage the community in environmental stewardship. Native plants form a key part of all of my plant design projects.
Your Garden Can Make a Difference
"All our gardens, streets and patches of sky are part of our own perception of the world. If, in our own modest back yards, we can help preserve and treasure our natural world, then we will make this planet a better place- not just for ourselves but for every living creature."
Monty Don, writer, gardener, broadcaster
